Let's Make A Stuffed Pizza Crust!
Stuffed pizza crust seems to have taken America by storm. Every time you turn on the TV it seems like there's always a commercial on for it. It is quite the rage these days.
In-store sales and home delivery of stuffed pizza crust pizzas are booming. People are noticing pizza again with this new product. And store owners are already taking advantage of this new interest by charging a premium price for these new pizzas.
With this in mind, we're going to introduce you to making a stuffed pizza crust pizza at home. You'll be saving money and you'll actually be eating a better tasting pie.
Flour, water, oil and yeast are all it takes to make stuffed pizza crust dough. Check the Internet for a generic recipe.
Starting with the flour, make a mound of it on a cutting board. Hollow out a well in the center about six inches in diameter. Pour in your warm water then the packet of dry yeast. Stir the yeast a couple minutes until it gets cloudy and slightly foamy. Add your oil.
Start pulling flour into the yeast mix a little at a time, going around the ring. Be careful not to breach the flour by taking too much from one place or you'll lose your yeast/water/oil mixture. Keep doing this until the mixture is too thick to run. Now pull all the flour into the mix and keep folding the stuffed pizza crust dough until a sticky ball is formed.
Add a little flour at a time as you begin to knead it to keep it from getting too sticky. After kneading about 5-10 minutes you should have a shiny ball of stuffed pizza crust dough that will bounce back if depressed with a finger.
The yeast is now given time to do its work. Put the stuffed pizza crust dough into a covered bowl and let it sit in a warm place for a couple hours. It should double in size.
Remove the dough from the bowl. If you want a very large pizza use it all. If you want two smaller pizzas cut it in half and freeze the other half for another day.
Roll out the dough to the thickness desired. Begin placing cheese sticks or grated cheese in a narrow row about 1 1/2" in from the edge of the pizza and go all the way around.
You will now seal in the cheese by folding the dough outside the row, over the row itself. Press it down to form the seal. Go all the way around the pizza until all the cheese has been covered and sealed.
You know something? Your first stuffed pizza crust pie shell is done! All you need to do now is load it with your favorite toppings and throw it into a hot oven! Get ready for a delicious pie!
